All Are Welcome...

Message from the Pastor

Welcome to the website of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. Mary), the only Catholic Church in the city of Richland Center. Our parish was founded in 1892 and belongs to the Diocese of La Crosse. I encourage you to learn about the various components that make up our parish by browsing this website.  If you are new to Richland Center or you would like to make a visit here, please know that you are welcomed to join us.  Those of you who have been members of Saint Mary’s for many years, I hope you enjoy this website and that it helps all of us in serving our Lord Jesus Christ through our shared parish life.  May God bless you and all the parishioners of Saint Mary Parish.

Monsignor Roger J. Scheckel, Pastor

Announcements

The Sanctuary renovation is now complete

Inspired by the Spirit

In March 2022, the Diocese of La Crosse initiated a diocesan-wide capital campaign entitled Inspired by the Spirit. The intention of the campaign is to fortify our parishes, schools, and the Diocese in order to continue our faith-filled service to the people of the Diocese of La Crosse, now and in future generations.

Contributions received will be divided between the Diocese and the local parish at the rate of 80% retained by the parish and 20% given to the Diocese. Our parish's stated goal is $480,000. Our portion of the generosity of our parishioners is approximately $385,000 and will be used to renovate the nave (seating area) of the church. This will include removal and refinishing of the pews, new light-weight kneelers, new tile flooring, repainting the entire interior. Work is scheduled to begin on January 16 and will take approximately eight weeks to complete.

Goal Achieved and Work Will Begin!

With much gratitude for the overwhelming generosity of the parishioners of St. Mary Parish, our Inspired by the Spirit campaign goal has been met and exceeded! Work on the renovation of the nave will begin on January 16, 2023 and take approximately eight weeks to complete. During this period of renovation, Saturday vigil and Sunday Masses will be celebrated in the school gymnasium. Weekday Masses will be held in the Commons chapel. Please refer to the "Mass Schedule" section of this home page. Rather than reprint the details here, please refer to Monsignor Scheckel's column in the Sunday bulletin dated January 15, 2023. You will find it by clicking the "Bulletin" button in the blue banner above and then select "Second Sunday of Ordinary Time".

Message from the Principal

Welcome to St. Mary School! We are a 3K-8th grade building, bound by our academics, our worship, and our service. Our new website offers just a glimpse of this! We invite you to look around.

We believe St. Mary School is a pretty special place. It starts with our dedication to the Lord - our days begin and end in prayer, and our students find ways to serve Him and others each day. Our staff is warm and friendly, with dedicated teachers who care about the success of every child who enters this building. Moreover, we understand that the education of a child is truly a collaborative process. The role of a parent is significant in a child's education, and communication between school and family is important to us.
Whether you are familiar with our school or not, if you have not been here in awhile, we invite you to reach out for a tour and witness the learning, laughter, and love that is found within our walls.
Mrs. Stacia Kohlstedt, Principal

Scrip

The St. Mary Scrip program gives financial support to our parish and school. Gift cards and E-cards are purchased at discounted prices from businesses with a discount from 1% to 20%. These cards are then sold at face value and the profit is passed on to the parish. The gift cards are then used as cash to make purchases at the businesses. There is nothing to join and you can earn credit toward St. Mary School tuition.

There are many ways to purchase Scrip: Stop by the church foyer after each weekend Mass and buy cards from one of volunteer sellers; weekdays, Scrip can be purchased at the school office, and in the summer, it can be purchased at the parish office. Or shop the convenient way on the “Raise Right” app on your phone for over 750 brands. Contact your Scrip coordinator at scrip@stmarysrc.com to get signed up for the app.
