Parish Pilgrimage to Italy: “Saints of the South”
St. Mary Parish is pleased to announce an upcoming pilgrimage to Italy titled “Saints of the South,” a spiritually rich journey to some of the Church’s most sacred and inspiring sites – October 18-29, 2026.
Pilgrims will visit the Cave of St. Michael the Archangel at Monte Sant’Angelo, a powerful place of prayer and spiritual protection. We will travel to Norcia and Monte Cassino, connected to St. Benedict, whose life and Rule shaped Christian faith and culture. In San Giovanni Rotondo, we will pray at the tomb of St. Padre Pio, encountering the witness of a modern saint deeply devoted to the Eucharist and Confession.
The pilgrimage also includes Lanciano, home of the renowned Eucharistic miracle, offering a profound opportunity to renew our faith in the Real Presence of Christ. In Bari, pilgrims will venerate the tomb of St. Nicholas, beloved bishop and defender of the faith. We will visit the Holy Face of Manoppello, believed to bear the image of Jesus, and the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo.
Along the way, we will experience the beauty of southern Italy, including Alberobello, where the unique Trulli houses feel like something out of The Lord of the Rings, reminding us of the wonder and creativity of God’s world. Pilgrims will also attend a public audience with Pope Leo XIV, a special moment of prayer and unity with the Holy Father. Pilgrims will also have the opportunity to tour St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museum, or the Scavi in Rome.
This pilgrimage will be spiritually led by Fr. Kuhn and Deacon Tully, and will include daily Mass, prayer, fellowship, and opportunities for deep spiritual renewal as we walk in the footsteps of the saints.
Please see the PDF Here to view the full itinerary and information regarding the Pilgrimage, including costs. Call Susan Tully at 608-606-0631 or email her at susan.tully@aol.com to reserve your place or ask for more information.
8th Grade Mission Trip

St. Mary School 8th Grade Class of 2025 traveled to Louisa, Kentucky, to work with the Father Beiting Christian Appalachian Mission Project, putting into practice what they’ve been taught for 8+ years at St. Mary’s: "Their lives are more than just about themselves." The Mission Project serves the needy of Eastern Kentucky, one of the most isolated and poverty-stricken areas of America, by helping them to help themselves. Our students spent the week building a porch, stairs, and a ramp for access to a mobile home. The home is occupied by a brother and sister and their spouses. The owner is 42 years old and suffers from a degenerative muscle and bone disease. He walks with a cane but will very shortly be wheelchair bound. His brother-in-law is also wheelchair bound and receives dialysis treatment three times per week. He is living in a nursing home because prior to the ramp being built, he was unable to leave the home for his medical care. Thanks to our students, he will be able to return home to his family.
It should be noted that throughout their middle school years, our students earn money for their 8th grade trip through various projects. This year is the third year that our 8th graders have chosen to spend those funds to finance their trip to the Mission Center and to purchase the building materials necessary for their projects.

Meet Our New Coordinator of Religious Education - Lindsay Perna
Fr. Kuhn recently announced that Mrs. Lindsay Perna has been appointed the Coordinator of Religious Education for St. Mary Parish. Mrs. Perna introduces herself below.
My husband Nick and I moved to Richland Center from New Jersey in 2016, with the hopes of raising our three boys in the country, in a slower manner of life. Upon moving here, we became members of St. Mary Parish and our children began their education at St. Mary School. When my youngest son started school, I joined the staff of St Mary’s working in the preschool department for 2 years. It was after those 2 years that I felt called to homeschool my boys. In between the busy hours of homeschooling, I also work as a registered nurse at the Richland Hospital.
Upon beginning our homeschool journey, I knew I wanted my children to continue their faith formation with St. Mary Parish. Wanting to incorporate what they learned into our home, I was always in contact with their teachers and offering to help in the program wherever I could. As I begin my new role as the Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE), my hope is to help children discover the joy of learning about God and to help each child develop a strong relationship with Him. My goal is to provide a more hands-on and engaging approach to learning about God to make each child’s faith formation a memorable experience that will encourage them to grow in their Catholic faith.

Scrip
The St. Mary Scrip program gives financial support to our parish and school. Gift cards and E-cards are purchased at discounted prices from businesses with a discount from 1% to 20%. These cards are then sold at face value and the profit is passed on to the parish. The gift cards are then used as cash to make purchases at the businesses.
There is nothing to join and you can earn credit toward St. Mary School tuition.
There are many ways to purchase Scrip: Stop by the church foyer after each weekend Mass and buy cards from one of volunteer sellers; weekdays, Scrip can be purchased at the school office, and in the summer, it can be purchased at the parish office. Or shop the convenient way on the “Raise Right” app on your phone for over 750 brands. Contact your Scrip coordinator at scrip@stmarysrc.com to get signed up for the app.
