MONSIGNOR ROGER SCHECKEL, Pastor
Monsignor Scheckel has been a priest for over 30 years in the Diocese of La Crosse.He has a B.A. and M.A. in philosophy and a M.A. in theology, all from the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.He has also served as Mission Director of the Diocese of La Crosse and in that capacity has made visits to South America, Africa and India.He is an avid hunter of whitetail deer and various small game. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, having done so all the way to Alaska.He also enjoys relaxing at his cabin, located on the family farm where he was raised which is along the Wisconsin River.
ELISABETH NIEMEYER, MUSIC and ART
Mrs. Niemeyer is beginning her third year at St. Mary School. She has a degree in vocal performance and earned her teaching degree through Viterbo and UW-Platteville. She was raised in Richland County, and married her wonderful husband Andy in the fall of 2014. They are the proud parents of their son, Jace. She and her husband love kids, teaching, the outdoors, sports and game nights with family and friends. She looks forward to another year full of love, learning, and music!
AMY ANDERSON, 8TH GRADE
Mrs. Anderson is in her 5th year as the 8th grade teacher at St. Mary. Prior to this, she taught first grade at St. Mary for 11 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from UW-La Crosse in 1991 and a few weeks later married Robby Anderson. Together, they have raised 3 children-Mara, Emily, and Luke. All three are alumni of St. Mary. Mrs. Anderson enjoys working with the wonderful staff and families of our school.
MARY J. BROADBENT, 6TH GRADE
Mrs. Broadbent is in her 16th year as the 6th grade and middle school math teacher at St. Mary School. She holds a degree in business education from Northern Michigan University. She has 26 years of teaching experience with 11 years of substitute teaching in the public schools, and 1 year of teaching at Richland Center High School. She has a great love for teaching and feels blessed to be able to share her faith with her students. She has been married to her husband Scott for 24 years, is the mother of five beautiful children: Jaime, Ryan, Daniel, Peter, and Elizabeth; and is a grandmother of 5 awesome grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, doing any kind of brain games, and knitting.
MARY COOPER, 5TH GRADE
Mrs. Cooper is in her 11th year at St. Mary. Prior to teaching at St. Mary School, she was a substitute teacher for St. Mary as well as the Richland School District for 6 years. She is a Co-Advisor with Ms. Donna Urbach and Mrs. Jennifer Bauer of St. Mary Student Council. She has been married for 22 years to her husband Jerry, and they have two children, Ryley and Madison. She enjoys gardening, reading, riding in her woods on her ATV and John Deere Gator, volleyball, music, and caring for her menagerie of animals at home.
VICKI FABER, PRINCIPAL AND CO-DIRECTOR OF PRESCHOOL
Ms. Faber is in her 10th year as principal at St. Mary School. She also enjoys directing learning in the preschool. She began her career in the Richland School District as a middle level special education teacher in 1981. In 1987, she taught special education at Richland Center High School. She served as Dean of Students at RCHS for 2 years. From 2001 - 2008, she was a teacher as well as the transition coordinator for the Richland School District. She earned her administrative certification from Viterbo University in 2010. . She loves to cook and travel. She is enjoying working with students at the PreK-8 level and loves the climate and culture of St. Mary School!
STACIA KOHLSTEDT, ASSOCIATE PRINCIPAL AND CO-DIRECTOR OF PRESCHOOL
Mrs. Kohlstedt is entering her 11th year in education and her 2nd year as Associate Principal of St. Mary. She also enjoys directing learning in our preschool. She taught for nine years in the Richland School District. In the meantime, she went back to school at Viterbo to earn her Masters in Education and then her Reading Specialist certification in 2015. On the side, she works for Viterbo as an adjunct instructor of graduate reading teaching classes. She loves spending time with her husband, Heath, and their three children, Aubrey, Bryce, and Reese, and as a family they enjoy being active outdoors, cooking, and traveling. She is excited to be a part of the St. Mary staff and family!
JOLENE FRAWLEY, SCHOOL SECRETARY
Mrs. Frawley is in her 19th year at St. Mary School. Her first year she worked part time as a library aid and her responsibilities included library classes for grade 1-3 and clerical work. The following year she was offered the job as school secretary and has enjoyed the interaction with parents and students these last 19 years. She also enjoys spending time with her family, scrap booking, reading and working in her yard. In 2017, Mrs. Frawley was named the Support Staff Person of the Year for the Diocese of La Crosse.
SHIRLEY STOLTZ, 7TH GRADE
Mrs. Stoltz has taught Middle School Science for the past 18 years. She is a LaCrosse STEM Team Fellow along with Mrs. Cooper. Christy Adsit and Mrs. Stoltz initiated the St Mary School Garden, and Mrs. Stoltz continues to be an advisor for this project. She coaches the St. Mary Forensics Team with Mrs. Murphy. She has been married for 35 years, and has four children and two grandchildren. She is passionate about organic farming, experimenting in her hoophouse, enjoying nature, traveling, and learning from classes, conferences and others.
JENNIFER BAUER, COMPUTERS
Mrs. Bauer, an alum of St. Mary School, is very happy to be returning for her fifth year as the Computer/Technology teacher. Mrs. Bauer received her Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She and her husband, Steve, were married in St. Mary Church and are members of St. Mary Parish. After working 10 years in human resources, she put her career on hold to stay at home with their two children. Madelyn is in 10th grade and Hannah is in 7th grade at St. Mary School. Mrs. Bauer attributes her strong faith and successes to the Catholic school education she received, as it has brought her back full circle to serve and to share with the children the same opportunity. She is delighted to be a part of St. Mary School where she strives to infuse in her students' academic excellence and strong Catholic identity to ensure that our world will have outstanding leaders in years to come.
PATTI VLASAK, KINDERGARTEN
Mrs. Vlasak is in her eighth year of teaching Kindergarten at St. Mary. She previously taught in the Royall Public School District. During her first 30 years, she taught Early Childhood Special Education and four year old kindergarten. Although she enjoyed every year she taught in Elroy, nothing can compare to the fantastic children, family, staff and community that have welcomed her to Richland Center. She just returned from a national conference on early learning and is excited to share what she has learned with students and staff! Mrs. Vlasak and her husband have five children (20 - 30 years old), six grandchildren and numerous animals. She loves being around her family, reading, being outside and TEACHING!
JUDY MURPHY, 4TH GRADE
Mrs. Murphy is in her twelfth full time year at St. Mary. She taught one year in fifth grade and the past ten years in 4th grade. This year, she will be teaching 6th grade world history, and she is looking forward to this new challenge! Mrs. Murphy holds an Associate's Degree from UW-Richland and a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from UW-Platteville. Mrs. Murphy's hobbies include reading, walking, and watching football games.
BARBARA PLINER, 3RD GRADE
Mrs. Pliner graduated from Riverdale High School. From there she went to UW-Richland for two years and transferred to and graduated from UW-Platteville. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching at St. Mary since 1989. She is married and has two children. She likes to walk, swim, read, and scrapbook. She also enjoys family movie night with her children and husband.
DONNA URBACH, 2ND GRADE
Miss Urbach is in her 35th year of teaching, and it has all been in the second grade! She holds a degree in Elementary Education from Viterbo University. She has taken many classes to help her stay current with the latest trends in education. She just returned from a national conference on early learning, and she is excited to put what she learned into practice! She is truly passionate about her teaching career and can't imagine doing anything else. She enjoys sports, especially the Packers, Badgers, and the Brewers, reading, traveling, music, and gardening. She is also a member of St. Mary's parish family where she is involved with many of the activities of the church. She lives in Richland Center with her best friend, Peanut.
SABRINA LEWALLEN, 1ST GRADE
Ms. Lewallen is in her sixth year of teaching first grade at St. Mary. She previously substitute taught in the Boscobel and Riverdale School Districts before becoming Administrator of a Preschool and Daycare facility in Potosi, WI. Ms. Lewallen graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and an Endorsement in Reading from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, IA. Ms. Lewallen has two children, Randall and Madelynn. Randall is a sophomore at Richland Center High School, and Madelynn is in 5th grade at St. Mary School. Ms. Lewallen is very excited to be a part of the wonderful teaching staff at St. Mary and to share her love for God and learning with her students! In her spare time, Ms. Lewallen can be found anywhere her children are, reading, golfing, running, helping a friend, or spending time with her dad building, remodelling, and designing houses!
LINDA KRANZ-ORMSON, 4 YEAR OLD KINDERGARTEN
This is Mrs. Ormson’s 5th year in the four-year-old Kindergarten here at St. Mary. She previously worked in the Royall School District. She has been in the Early Childhood field for 21 years. Mrs. Ormson has an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Child Development from Rasmussen College in Wausau. She resides in Elroy, WI with her husband and two children, while enjoying camping, eating and traveling. She recently returned from a national conference on early learning and is excited about working together with Ms. Faber, Mrs. Kohlstedt,and Mrs. Tydrich to provide preschool experiences based on Catholic values and virtues, mutual respect, and appropriate social skills.
MRS. PAMELA TYDRICH, 3 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL
Mrs. Tydrich grew up in Chicago, IL where she received her Associate of Arts degree at Triton College. She worked for the Head Start program for 13 years where she received her Child Development Associate, then worked at Noah's Ark Playschool for one year. She is very excited to work in the St. Mary 3K program with the great staff at St. Mary School. She has been married to husband Tony for 27 years and was blessed to have four children, two who have graduated, one who attends RCHS (a St. Mary alum!), and one who currently attends St. Mary. She enjoys sports, running, movies, and spending time with family and friends.
