Spirit Day Reminder!

Dear Parent,

On Friday, Jan. 15, we would like to have a Spirit Day. Students should dress in their St. Mary’s wear or in school colors (blue and white). Michele Brewer will be here to take an all-school picture to be used in a newspaper ad promoting Catholic Schools Week. Please remind your children to dress up in their favorite blue and white in a festive way. We hope to have fun while promoting our school as we continually work on Building the Spirit… here at St. Mary School!

H1N1 2nd Dose and Paperwork

Dear Parent,

Richland County Health & Human Services Public Health will be at St. Mary’s on Friday, January 15^th to administer the second dose of H1N1 vaccine to students under the age of 10. They will be at St. Mary’s from 1:15 to 1:45 pm. Attached, you will find the needed information as well as the consent form. Please read the letter and return the consent form to the school by Wednesday, January 13 if your child is to take the 2^nd shot.

We just received notice that St. Luke’s of Plain does not have a 5 & 6 grade boys team. We have a game scheduled for January 18 with St. Luke’s and there will be only one game at 6:00 for the 7 & 8 boys at home. Please update your basketball calendar.

Fish Fry Signup Sheet

Dear St. Mary’s Parent,

Attached, you will find the signup list for our first St. Mary’s Fish Fry, which is planned for Friday, February 19. It’s hard to believe that it is less than 2 months away, but that is the case! We truly, truly need to have the support of every school family if we are going to make this work successfully. If the fish fries are a success, it will mean many positive things for our school. We have been trying very hard to keep tuition down while providing a quality education, but it gets tougher every year. The hope is that the fish fry will be able to help pay the bills of the parish and the school…and will also provide us with more opportunities than ever before. We are planning fish fries for March, April, and May as well, so we would love help as often as you are able to give it!

Please take a look at the list. We have a few slots filled already, and the list changes daily. Email either Jolene or me back and let us know what you would like to do. This list is specifically for Friday, February 19, but some of you have already indicated that you will work multiple Fridays. Please indicate to us in your email what months you can work. Again…we are planning for Feb, March, April, and May. And…indicate the type of work you would like to do. I will do my best to get people into their areas of preference. Also…there are slots for students in grades 4 on up to work as well. We would ask to not have children younger than 4^th grade in the working areas. The folks at Plain, who have done this for over 30 years, told us that they have tried to use younger children, but it just doesn’t work.

I would like to hear back from you by Monday, January 11. It will take us some time to get the slots filled and the workers organized, so it is helpful if you can reply by then. If you cannot work the February fry, but would like to work other months, please let us know that as well. If all of us work together, I’m thinking each family should not have to work more than 3 fish fries per year! This is a great way to earn some good money for the parish and school! If we do not hear from you by January 11^th, we will call you and answer any questions you may have. Or…feel free to call the school office with any questions and/or to sign up as well.

Thank you in advance for your support of this project. It is a big undertaking! As all of you understand from your own dining experiences…we must have good food and good service to make this a success. With everyone working together, we can also work at building the Spirit at the same time! It can be a great time to come together as a family to work hard and have fun all at once! We cannot do it without help from every family. I know you all give so much…I hate to ask again…but this can really make a huge difference to our parish and school!
