THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME—B
(Daniel 12: 1-3 Hebrews 10: 11-14, 18 Luke 13: 24-32)
Next week will be the last week on the Liturgical Calendar. The last week has a theme of the End Time or the Parousia and the Eschatological realities. It will be about the Judgment Day, when each one of us will receive our just recompenses, good or bad according to the way we live in our mortal bodies.
Today, we stop for a moment and ask ourselves if we would be worthy of the promises of Christ, as we ponder on how faithful we have been to his Gospel. The good thing about this is that we have the opportunity to make amends to our sinful ways and turn to the Lord. This act by us will be deemed very wise and prudent, for the Lord will look kindly on us with His bountiful mercy when we are full of contrition.
We are bound to be in a final perfect union with our creator on the Last Day. Can we always have our God as our inheritance, or our allotted portion and cup, and set Him ever before us? Let us consider ourselves as part of God’s elect who are bound to experience the beatific vision of God, so that we can always do the will of God, even during the darkest moments of our weakness, because the Lord will surely lift us up from the dust on the last day to be in His glorious presence.
Let us help one another to achieve this by being vigilant at all times and pray that we may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.
